PC Inventory Software keeps track of network inventory.
Written by thalib on May 12th, 2010Have you try Lansweeper 4.0 as your PC inventory software? With Lansweeper 4.0 PC inventory software, users can do complete inventory of Windows network without need to install agent on all workstations or servers. Program offers Windows event log error scanning and alert mailing, hardware and software change detection, over 200 built-in reports, and Active Directory integration. Using software, administrators and helpdesk staff can manage all assets using intuitive web browser.
This indeed a good news to all network administrator, system administrator or IT engineer ( Different company may use different position name) like my self.
I have experience where I have to go to each PC and run the agent – input parameter and so on. One PC takes about 5 minute. So you can calculate how many hours I have to take to finished all 350 PC.
That not include the time I have to wait for user to finished his/her job before allow me to sit in front of his/her PC. Some user will say ‘can you come tomorrow since I have urgent job to complete’
Some time I try to use my authority and says this is important. But user will inform to his/her superior, at the end of the day, I’m the one who need to compromise. This is not include another PC problem that I have entertain and everything is urgent. Some times I wonder is it true so many urgent or just user excuse.
This is all disturbance to complete our task.
So, agent free solution is the best solution for PC inventory solution. Even though it is agent free, still you have to do testing and monitor whether user will feel the effect like their PC performance drop, or network become congest and accessing to certain application become slow.
If it’s course application become slow, you may need to run the scanning program partially.
So remember, using agent free PC inventory solution doesn’t means you don’t have to do planning, in fact in my opinion more detail planning is needed.
Well everything is about planning. Poor planning means poor result.
